Patients

The Department of Nephrology and Hypertension is the clinical center for patients with kidney disease and high blood pressure in the Canton of Bern.
Within the University Hospital of Bern, the department provides diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with internal illnesses. The treatment and prevention of kidney disease and hypertension play a central role, as does the diagnosis of unidentified medical conditions.

Arterial hypertension and so-called autoimmune diseases rank among the most important causes of chronic renal failure. As a result, the staff have much experience in the diagnostics and therapy of these illnesses. Inpatients are treated on wards R-Süd and R-Mitte-1 of the building "Bettenhochhaus". Outpatients, with or without kidney substitution methods, plasma- or lipidpheresis, are cared for on floors F and G of the "Kinderspital".
